Crow War Pony Shoot-1

Scenes from the Crow War Pony shoot.

I travelled to the ranch of Ken Real Bird in Garryowen, Montana. Near Crow Agency, Montana – the central town for the Crow Indian Reservation. Ken

lives on the Little Bighorn River directly across from the Little Bighorn Battle Monument. He is a highly respected artist himself and with his brother

also raises bucking horses.

Okay, I didn’t stay here in Hardin, MT…but sure like the sign.

Ken’s ranch from a distance. The cottonwoods in back are on the banks of the river. The hillside across the river to the left is where the Battle of the

Little Bighorn – Custer’s Last Stand took place. Ken and his family live on the land where the Indian encampments were located and each June he

and his family stage a re-enactment of the battle. Here’s a link to more info:  http://buffalopost.net/?tag=real-bird-ranch

Gettin’ the pony ready.

Starting our runs.

Got pretty comfortable with me, my tripod and gear – so why not start cutting it close?
